Naples, Italy
We made a quick, two-night stopover in Naples primarily for its close proximity to an international airport (and secondarily because it's the birthplace of the margherita pizza). This city is a vibrant portrait of grime and fading grandeur and felt like Italy at its most Italian.
Mount Vesuvius was actively smoking while we were in town (visible in the last couple photos). Which reminds me, I have yet to cross off exploring the ancient ruins of Pompeii from my bucket list! Perhaps next time.
