Stockholm, Sweden
Stockholm is distinctive and modern, but has left me uninspired. Perhaps we should not have stopped in such a large and bustling city after experiencing the quiet (yet immense) natural beauty of Norway.
Gamla Stan, the medieval old town of Stockholm, was very much saffron-and-spice straight from the storybooks. Here we found a labyrinth of narrow, winding cobblestone streets and alleyways. Definitely felt like stepping back in time.
We experienced "Midsummer Eve" which in Sweden is one of the most important holidays, celebrating the arrival of summer. The day (and well into the night) consisted of dancing around a maypole, picnicking, and flower crowns/wreaths on the heads of both men and women alike.
We leave for Prague in the morning.
