Voss, Gudvangen, Myrdal and Flåm
Hallå from Sweden!
We had an incredible time journeying across Norway by both train and boat. The landscape is completely majestic, but by the end of the week we were becoming a little de-sensitized to the beauty around us ("oh look another amazing waterfall tumbling down the wall of the fjord into the perfectly blue glacier water"). Each corner was more beautiful than the last.
Getting used to the sun setting around midnight took some time. Most nights we'd go to sleep as the sun was rising around 2:30am.
To start: leftover photos from Bergen.
Voss, Norway
We stayed in a charming 100-year-old cottage on a farm in the middle of western Norway about 20 minutes by train from Voss. After so much city hopping, this was the perfect way to recharge.
En route to Gudvangen, Norway.
Kayaking in the glorious Næøryfjord.
Its steep mountainsides juxtapose with hanging valleys, snowy, towering peaks, waterfalls and small little villages.
Hanging around Voss.
One night we caught a Norwegian bluegrass band playing in a local bar. This was super weird and super fun — to blend in, we kept feigning laughter at the jokes we assume the band was cracking in between songs (the crowd was losing it!!!) but we had no idea what the band was actually saying as they only (obviously) were speaking Norwegian.
Waiting for our train to leave our little farmland escape in the mountains and head back into civilization.
Onward to Gudvangen.
To Myrdal via a super modern looking ferry. Can you spot me waving in this first photo?
Flåm and the famous Flåm Railway (named one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world by us, and National Geographic!).
