Santorini, Part I

Hello my friends! I’ve fallen behind in posting my Santorini and Mykonos photos. The wifi in these gorgeous Greek islands was too weak to handle uploading photos, and I was having too much fun to seek out anything stronger.

We are now in Rome and doing the usual tourist circuit. The last few nights we've returned to our hotel after long days walking around in the sun, and have immediately showered and gone to bed. Speaking of hotels - we religiously booked accommodations through Airbnb this entire trip (save for one night in Gudvagen, Norway which had really no Airbnb presence and no easy means of transportation outside of town).

We decided to splurge on a hotel for our stay in Santorini. Each morning room service brought breakfast to our balcony. Our bed was made. Floor swept. Towels changed. These little pieces of luxury made us hungry for more... now we're spoiling ourselves these remaining last 3 weeks and staying in hotels. Oops!

Santorini’s beauty is unparalleled. We arrived after nightfall and awoke to such a stunning panoramic view of the ocean and cliffside.

Santorini is located about halfway between our previous destinations of Crete and Athens, and she's shaped like a lopsided croissant. Clusters of whitewashed buildings spill down her jagged caldera-edge. Inside these clusters are no roads but instead walkways composed hundreds of thousands of steps sprawling in every direction. 

We stayed in the village of Imerovigli, which is located between the island capital Fira and the romantic Oía. Imerovigli (in my opinion) was the most beautiful place to watch the sunset. The sunset photos in this post were taken in Oía.
