The art! The food! The architecture! The photos below feature scenes from (but not limited to) Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, Plaza de Oriente, Gran Via, Plaza de Cibeles, Museo del Prado, Museo Thyssen-Bornemiszathe, the Royal Palace of Madrid, the glorious gardens of El Retiro and the Palacio de Cristal.
A fun Spain-meets-Rhode Island moment (aside from the funny "Dunkin' Coffee" shop below): at the Museo Thyssen-Bornemiszathe, I happened across the portrait "George Washington's Cook" (below) painted by none other than RI's own Gilbert Stuart in North Kingstown RI in1828.
This was our last stop of our 2 month European adventure: in total we successfully toured 9 countries via 14 flights, 7 ferries, 3 rental cars, 2 ATVs, and 1 rental boat. And yes, we managed the entirety with just one carry on suitcase each!
Coincidentally I'll be back to Spain in early January. To be continued!
